In this unique case a meat plant in Chicago’s old industrial center was converted into a vertical wind farm. It includes a brewery, food waste digestion facilities, outdoor growing spaces, and a renewable energy source.

March 31st marks the 5th annual EarthHour sponsored by the World Wildlife Federation. Earthhour was created to recognize the growing threat of world pollution and climate change. Between 8:30 to 9:30 (your local time), people everywhere will be ‘shutting off the lights’. As much as a 20% drop in electricity usage has been noted during Earthhour world wide.

Increasingly we are learningn that earth’s climate is controlled primarily by the Sun, rather than any earth based factor. However, chemical pollution and environmental destruction still pose significant risks to our planet, thus shutting our lights off during Earthhour still being highly symbolic of our commitment to the planet.
